So, why all the posts about postage stamps? Well, for one our current challenge at the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog is to enter a postage stamp inspired design. Enter your creations by July 22nd and you could win $20 off your next order.
But there’s more to it than that. I really love postage stamps. I don’t collect them (though I used to and still have some from the 70’s). I just think it’s amazing that in this day when it seems everything is mechanized, machined, digitized, simplified, generic, institutionalized, stripped down, utilitarian, and well, just plain BORING, that we can still go to the Post Office and pick out gorgeous, artistic postage stamps to grace our envelopes. Just take a look! You’ll see everything from fine art paintings, to satellite photographs. History, nature, pop art, literature, and of course Old Glory. Most of us just see first-class stamps these days – actually now they are “Forever” stamps. But there are so many more – there’s the pretty little .01 Tiffany Lamp, the Apples – to use on US Postcards and the glorious Global Earth Forever stamp – to use on International Postcards – oh the list goes on and on. So I’ll hop off my soapbox now and tell you that the Postage Stamp Inspired card you see above was created by SS Design Team Member Miriam Napier using our Postoid Set of stamps, which of course includes postage stamp shaped images of Mailboxes!
There was a time when every woman had her own set of stationary embossed with her initials or monogram. I still have a few left from the box I ordered along with my wedding invitations 23 years ago! Don’t have any cards with your initials on them? DIY! This card was created by SS Design Team member Marybeth Lopez for our current Postage Stamp Inspired Challenge. She used the M-Magnolia letter from our Floral Alphabet. The wood mounted version of this stamp is on our 50% off Wood Mounted sale while supplies last!
Want to have a chance to win $20 off your next order? Just enter your postage stamp inspired design over at the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog. Want some ideas? Visit the blog and then take a gander at the USPS Postage Stamps on their website.
